The load carrying capacity of a refrigerated van depends with the size and layout of the truck. Conventional small refrigereated vans have a carrying capacity of between 2 and 5 metric cubes for short-haul operations. Small to medium-sized refrigerated vehicle may transport about 10-20 m3 of the product, which is most appropriate for short-haul transport of perishable goods mostly in the regional market. Large, separately burdened refrigerated truck service have a through volume of up to 30-40 km or more and can be used for bulk transportation of frozen or chilled products. The capacity depends on the size of the truck alongside with refrigeration system, which maintains temperatures of the products as desired.
