Commercial lightning protection systems (LPS) are designed to divert the electrical charge from a lightning strike safely into the ground, preventing damage to the building, electrical systems, and sensitive equipment. These systems consist of several key components: the lightning rod, conductors, ground system, and surge protection devices. The lightning rod, usually positioned at the highest point of the building, serves as the point of contact for the lightning strike. The electrical energy is then carried down through conductors to the ground system, where the energy is safely dissipated into the earth. Additionally, surge protection devices (SPDs) are often integrated into the system to prevent power surges from nearby lightning strikes from entering the building’s electrical grid, thereby protecting sensitive equipment from damage. commercial lightning protection
