Slow Fishing Earlier in the Week is Turning Around
Aug 21, 2009
Earlier this week the size of the Striped Bass was way down but it looks like things are turning around and the big ones are coming back in late in the week. While the Merrimack River was slow it wasn't slow everywhere, the Parker River was very productive. The majority of the Stripers in the river are traveling back and forth and they are on their way back but we will see what this massive storm off shore stirs up. If you keep your eyes open pogies have started to show their faces over by Half Tide Rocks.
Tuna have been all over Jeffries ledge, I can't figure out why all the boats are stacked up on the Curl and the Cove. Fisherman that have stayed clear of the pack are finding fish and having a lot more success hooking them. The fish are staying on the surface for long periods making it ideal to cast Ocean Lures, Slug-gos and Crippled Herring or other small metals. Rigged Ballyhoo is leading the pack on the troll and continues to produce some nice fish. And if your fishing bait the dogs have slowed down but chum heavy and they probably will find you.
