There were some small football tuna down off of thachers this morning and a strong bite bout 4 miles south of the Northwest Corner. We are even seeing a few out at the mudhole. The early season bait of choice has been Bonito X-Raps and White Slug-gos.
The strong striper action in the river continues however it has slowed down just a touch from last week. Last week was excelent especially for the night time guys having a new moon and great tides. Despite tougher tides the night time guys are still able to pull in some keepers on the incoming tide on the Flatts while the daytime guys will be best suited scooping up some live mackeral. there were a lot of tinkers out there today making it tough to score a huge striper. small bait small fish. out off the surf if you can find space blood worms off of the sand bar are hitting very well.
The bite out at the mudhole and long ledge seems to be slowing down and there are dogfish moving in. some people are staying in close still to save fuel however many have started to manuever further offshore towards old scantum and along Jeffreys.
