Great Fishing
Jun 13, 2012
The Striper fishing is still in full swing and with the good moon phase and tides I will be hitting the night bite hard Thurs thru Sun. The upriver bite is slowing and the big ones are gonna be in the flats and off toothpick. Tube and worm has been very hot with the kayak guys these last couple of days. So go drag a tube with a nice sea worm on the back and catch up some dinner. I will do a little trolling with tube and worm, live eels and throwing some hogies at night this week. During the day and especially early morning there is still tons of stripers right out in front of the Mouth of the Merrimack River. Mackeral have still been pretty consistent out front however they have gotten a little finnicky and some days breaking rock has been littered with bay pollock with a few macks mixed in. A lot of guys just shot up to hampton shoal ledge and found some bait.
On sunday Crossroads had a charter and we got into some great groundfishing out on the Curl. There were a ton of haddock, pollock and cod. They were taking both bait and jigs with blue teasers rigged 18 inches up the line. There were also a bunch of tuna and herring in the area. Should have brought some big gear with us. Some some big bluefins busting, and a lot of stick boats working to the north. It's early season so the tuna are up high right now.
Crossroads is putting it's first G-Loomis order in this week, these rods really are the best AMERICAN MADE ROD on the market, we are very excited for the new addition.
Also Allied Boat Works have dropped off our first demo boat. We will be selling these boats. If your not familiar with the brand they are a semi custom boat built up in Peru Maine and we have custom designed an ideal boat for fishing this tricky area. The boat only drafts 8 inches of water and has a beam plenty wide for tackling the rough stuff. Come check them out.
