The Bluefin Tuna bite has been picking up and today there were a lot of fish caught. The tuna buyers I talked to today picked up between 10and14 fish each from this area. The action is in pretty close to shore so you don't need to go far. Today Long Ledge was the place to be today. The bait of choice for a lot of anglers out there was whiting. The tuna don't seem to be too leader shy right now so don't fish the light stuff and avoid getting chaffed off.
The daytime striper bite has slowed down lately even though there is a ton of bait in the waters. There are a bunch of bluefish to replace the stripers and will give you a ton of action. I think the stripers are offshore during the day because there are a lot being caught by the tuna fleet. Then at night the stripers are coming in close to shore. There have been some very successful night fisherman lately.
