Crossroads Bait and Tackle Fish Report > Not Over Yet
Not Over Yet

Aug 10, 2012

The Stripers are starting to hit a little more consistantly and the water temp in the river is back getting back to normal. There are still some bluefish around with a lot of big ones offshore a couple miles and a mix of small snappers and decent size blues in the mouth and off the beach. We had a lot of action running niner rigs near the mouth on Sunday. I got into the blues out front of the beach and got all stripers in the mouth.

The Tuna bite slowed down a bit. The water was dead calm and clear most of this week. I prefer some chop on the water when I am tuna fishing. Flat calm sunny days makes all of your tackle very visible in the water. I watched tuna come and look at my baits on the fishfinder this week and even after I started fishing very light tackle they still turned away. I was able to get some nice whiting and herring off the bottom without too much trouble. With all this bait around I don't think this lul in the tuna bite will last.
