I've been doing a lot of fishing lately, however travelled away from this area while the water temps were abnormally high around the Merrimack River. Any way fishing is turning back on around this area and we are back at it hard and will have some more local reports. Stripers on Joppa are gaining momentum and a lot of bluefish have left the area in search of those warmer waters that plagued us a couple weeks ago. Some nice stripers are being weighed in again from day and night anglers. The bottom of the outgoing tide in the mouth has been the best time to land striped bass. The mackerel are pretty easy to find right now, and most days just go to breaking rock.
We hooked a tuna out on Jeffreys Ledge today and fought it for about an hour before a weak part in the line broke us off, due to an earlier hang up on another boats anchor. There have also been reports of hook ups at Outside Flag and Long Ledge. It's tough to focus in on a spot cause of the sporatic action in very different areas.
Jeffrey's Ledge is loaded with Haddock from the Cove to the Prong and out to the Curl. A lot of shorts but there is so many you'll be able to get some keepers in between. We also saw a ton of sharks out near the cove.
