Yay, Fishing 2015
May 9, 2015
Hello, hope everyone survived the winter and is ready for this upcoming spring. Fishing is starting to turn on in the rivers, lakes and ocean. First off the cod and haddock fishing has reported very strong despite strict closures and restrictions. If you feel these restriction unfairly target recreational ground fisherman then we encourage you to email the division of marine fisheries and if you find a tagged haddock then record the location, date and tag # and submit to Least36932@aol.com or call 603-781-5018. This tagging program is part of an information gathering mission that may hopefully prove the cod and haddock are not in need of such heavy restrictions. The party boats have been reporting great numbers and lots of keeper haddock coming in.
The shad fishing has been excellent, I was at Rocks Village Bridge earlier this week hooking shad every few cast on some shad spoons with a medium paced retrieve and a wrist twitch every couple seconds. The evening bite after work has been very strong and some other guys reported great morning action too.
The lakes and ponds are just starting to show signs of growth and the bass and pickerel are starting to ambush from cover and are moving out of the deep waters. Live bait, spinners and senko's have been very effective.
White Perch are hitting strong in Stratham at the Essex River
Striper have been reported on the cape and a few in Plymouth. Ive heard of a couple reports in this area however most sound like hold overs and we are still waiting for the head of the pack. should be very soon. Good Luck and the search for stripers has begun.
