The Striper fishing has been excellent for this early season and will only get better now that the mackerel have started showing up a lot more consistently and the size of the stripers are getting bigger as well. There was a big pile of bait in front of the mouth of the Merrimack River yesterday. We buy Mack's and now that they are around if you get some extras stop on by. There are a lot of keepers being reported and Joppa Flats has been on fire. Guys throwing the soft plastics are starting to size up or even switch to some hard plastics like the SP Minnows. The bait guys out front are using mostly clams and Mack's.
The Haddock fishing around the hills on Southern Jefferies continue to produce a ton of action. It's been drop, Bite and Reel. Randy from the Codfather reported he was waiting for 2 fish on the line before reeling up cause he was catching them so fast. I got some other nice reports from out at the Cove.
Flounder is starting to peak and many guys are catching their limit.
