Big Stripers Have Arrived!!
Jun 4, 2017
June is here and we have had multiple reports of bigger keeper stripers being caught in the river. Had a guy in the shop yesterday with pictures of a 44 inch caught on Plum Island on clams and had a guy come by and weigh in a 35 pounder today caught on Joppa Flatts on a bone colored Daiwa SP Minnow. The charter guys have been doing very well catching keepers in the mouth on live Mackerel. The Mackerel have arrived and guys are catching them in better more consistent numbers, still have to do a little hunting around to find them but once you're into them you'll have all you need to go fishing, try at the red can outside the mouth or out at Speckled Apron to start and move north to Breaking Rock or Hampton Shoal Ledge if you're having trouble finding them. Haddock fishing out on Jeffries Ledge continues to produce huge numbers with many boats hitting their limit, although you have to fish through all the extinct 30 pound cod to get them. Tuna season has officially opened and a few guys have started making runs for them, have heard of a couple guys marking them but no hookup reports yet that we've heard yet.
